Downey

IMG_5597.jpeg

In January 2026, The Joshua Al-Lateef Jr. Foundation established a partnership with Circle Tail, a nonprofit organization dedicated to training and placing highly skilled service and therapy dogs.

Through this collaboration, the foundation proudly sponsored a therapy dog for a local school district. Downey was placed at Lakota West High School in West Chester, where she now supports students and staff on campus each day.

Downey provides a calming presence within the school environment, helping students manage stress, regulate emotions, and feel more supported during their academic journey. Therapy dogs like Downey serve as non-judgemental companions, encouraging positive interactions and creating moments of comfort throughout the school day

Representative from the foundation had the opportunity to visit the school, meet Downey's teacher and handler, and connect with students who expressed sincere appreciation for having this valuable resource available to them.
